The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Affinity Trust’s location in Gledhow in Leeds ‘Good’ in all five categories – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
The CQC team spoke to three people supported, one relative and three staff. They also reviewed records of people’s care, medication and staff training.
The inspector noted:
People said they were treated kindly by caring staff. One person supported said: “The staff are nice to me. Staff help me to make dinner. I get on with everyone here.”
People were involved in their care planning. For instance, one person didn’t want to attend their GP and so staff arranged for their GP to make a home visit.
Extra training was provided when people’s needs changed. A staff member completed dementia training after they found the person they were supported had early-onset dementia.
CQC found the service “consistently managed and well-led”. All the staff they spoke to showed a commitment to person-centred, high-quality care: “They placed people using the service at the centre of everything they did.”
The ‘Good’ rating means that all Affinity Trust’s registered locations in England have been rated ‘Good’ by CQC for more than a year.
“I feel safe with staff. They are my friends, best friends” – person supported in Leeds, quoted by CQC
