Opportunities
What do we mean by Opportunities?
Some people visit every day of the week, others simply for an afternoon, but all take part in something that they enjoy
Rosie, Opportunities Manager SCORE
Learning disabilities do not prevent a person from wanting opportunity in life. Here, at Affinity Trust, we wholeheartedly support this notion by supporting a raft of projects which people with learning disabilities can actively participate in.
No two people are the same, learning disabled or otherwise, so the opportunities we offer for people to make friends, experience new things and take part in local community activities are always shaped around the individuals and the budget involved.
Our opportunities service is designed to help individuals reach personal goals and try new things from volunteering to volleyball. Currently we support rugby and hockey groups, theatre, puppetry, music and art projects as well as gardening, health and beauty activities.
Our opportunities in action
Affinity Trust in Hereford has a very active opportunities service within Affinity Trust. Known locally as SCORE, it provides a broad range of community based activities. Presently more than 35 people with learning disabilities participate in one or more of these activities each week, which are regularly praised by their participants and partners.
