Marcia’s manager

Marcia is a volunteer catering assistant at a local Church Café. For 20 years she has been volunteering there; after developing her catering skills at a local day centre Contact Supported Employment has helped support her in this role.

She particularly likes cooking and preparing the salads, but sadly still has to do the general clearing and washing up like everyone else. Through her commitment to the role she has considerably improved and extended her skills in a catering environment. Her role at the café is a vital part of day-to-day life; it is evident that her voluntary work has contributed greatly to her general confidence and assertiveness but also how much enjoyment she gets from her work.
