Our History

Making a cuppa

Affinity Trust was known originally as the Thames and Chiltern Trust (TACT). It was set up to commission and monitor residential and other services for people with learning disabilities leaving a long stay hospital in Berkshire before its closure. At the end of the closure process it became clear that it was difficult to commission services for a number of individuals; principally those with marked additional needs and challenging reputations, so it was agreed that the organisation should be a registered provider of residential services in its own right in order to better meet the needs of people going forward.

Our name change to Affinity Trust heralds the strengthening and development of the organisation as increasingly we are recognised as a support provider of choice in the local community.
